There is an obvious color cast — mostly strong magenta — that can sometimes be dramatic and nice, and at other times dramatic and problematic. Rather than taking time to color correct such images on the computer, which can be quite time consuming with less than acceptable results, Iâve opted more often to converting the image to black and white, which works to my satisfaction much of the time. But, what if color is the reason for making the image? …
LB “Lighter, Brighter” Color Intensifiers
Singh-Ray’s LB Color Intensifier is uniquely formulated to subtly enhance the strongest colors in your scene, giving your images a natural, life-like boost. Despite its “intense” name, the effect is subtle â just enough to add needed saturation and impact to a wide range of outdoor subjects, from landscapes to macro shots, in any type of light. Many photographers also use the Color Intensifier to achieve greater impact in their black & white images.

Sunrise at the Coffee Flats Schoolhouse
Waking one September morning well before the sun, I headed out to the intersection of Highland and Rocky Ford at the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary with a thermos of coffee and a few breakfast bars. This year I was spending only two weeks in this prime South Dakota real estate. All of the roads here are dirt, dotted with cattle guards, potholes, and a few washouts. I would actually drive on pavement for just one hour during my visit …
